对已发表医学研究质量的担忧似乎近才出现,但其实已是老生常谈.例如,早在1929年,Dunn出于对当时文献报告的担忧,在一本生理学杂志上发表了长篇论著[1],详尽阐述了统计分析和结果解释的原理.同样,Bradford Hill因在阅读医学杂志文章时发现错误百出,促使他1937年在《柳叶刀》杂志上发表了关于统计学方法的系列论著,后来则集结成为一本著名的教科书[2].

Although it seems a modern worry, disquiet about the quality of published medical research has been expressed for many decades. For example, a huge article in a physiology journal in 1929 expounding many of the main principles of statistical analysis and interpretation was provoked by the author's concerns about the state of the literature at that time[1]. Also, one stimulus for Bradford Hill's famous 1937 series of articles on statistical methods in the Lancet, subsequently made into a famous textbook[2], was the prevalence of errors in the papers he read in medical journals.
